Repiping FAQs

What is repiping?

Replacing the water supply lines in your home with new pipe. It can cover the whole house or just one failing section.

How do I know if my house needs repiping?

Rusty or discolored water, low pressure at several fixtures, leaks in more than one spot and galvanized or polybutylene pipes in an older home are the usual signs. A look at the pipes tells us whether a repair covers it.

Should I choose PEX or copper?

Both are good materials. PEX is flexible and corrosion resistant, and copper is a long lasting traditional choice. We explain the options for your home before we start.

Do you need a permit to repipe?

Yes. Washington plumbing code requires a permit for repiping. Inside city limits that goes through the City of Vancouver, and unincorporated Clark County goes through Clark County Community Planning. We pull the correct one and coordinate the inspection.

Can you repipe only part of a house?

Yes. If the rest of the system is sound, we can replace only the failing section.

Will repiping mean opening up walls?

Some access to the pipes is usually needed. We explain where before we start.

How long does repiping take?

It depends on the size of the house and how easy the pipes are to reach. We give you a realistic schedule once we have seen the house.

How much does repiping cost?

It depends on the size of the house, the number of fixtures, the pipe material and the access. We explain the scope and the price after we look at it.

Which areas do you serve?

We serve Vancouver, Camas, Battle Ground, Ridgefield, Brush Prairie, Salmon Creek, Woodland, Kalama, Longview and nearby communities in Clark and Cowlitz County. See our full service area and our plumbing services.

Not Sure You Need a Full Repipe?

A look at the pipes shows whether a repair covers it or the lines are due for replacement. Call us and tell us what you are seeing.
