Most furnace problems give a warning first. Weak airflow, rooms that will not warm up, a furnace that starts and stops, or a new noise are all worth a look. Nobody wants to spend a cold day on it, so we keep it simple: we look at the whole system, not only the spot where the symptom shows up, and we explain what we find.
Our heating service covers furnace repair and heat pump repair, and our HVAC services also cover installation and maintenance. Each problem we see most is listed below, with what to check and when to call.
We work across Vancouver, Camas, Battle Ground, Brush Prairie, Salmon Creek, Ridgefield, Woodland, Kalama and Longview. Find your town in the service area list further down, or on our service area page.

Replace the filter, and call us if it keeps happening. Banging or squealingSquealing often points to a belt or motor bearing, and banging to ignition or ductwork. Turn the unit off and call us. Clicking but no heatThe igniter or burner may be failing to light. |
04 Heat pumpsThe heat pump is not heating in cold weatherMake sure the thermostat is in heat mode. Ice on the outdoor unit, or a unit that runs constantly without warming the house, needs a technician. |

It depends on the age of the unit, how often it breaks down and the condition of the parts. A single failed part on a newer unit is usually a repair. An older unit that keeps failing is worth a replacement conversation. See heat pump vs furnace in Vancouver.
